Meet the Speakers

Erin Mertz is a Director of Global Food Safety and Public Health at Ecolab. With over 18 years of experience, she offers expertise in microbiology, regulated product development, and technical support for food processing environments. Erin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and is certified in HACCP and a certified Preventative Control Qualified Individual (PCQI).

Joy Herdt is a Senior Staff Scientist at Ecolab. Joy brings over 28 years of experience in developing tailored solutions for the Food & Beverage, Institutional, and Pest Elimination markets. Her focus lies in the development and registration of antimicrobial treatments for a safer, cleaner food supply chain. Joy is a named inventor on 16 U.S. Patents and has contributed to the book “Microbial Safety of Fresh Produce”. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin.
